WHAT is Pilates?

Pilates is an innovative and safe conditioning system of mind-body exercise consisting of low impact, flexibility, muscular strength, range of motion and endurance movements done on a floor mat or a variety of equipment. Pilates emphasizes use of the abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and thighs. It evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates, its creator, who developed the exercises in the early 1900’s. Pilates can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels, and performs.

WHO can do Pilates?
Everyone! However, classical Pilates mat workouts are contraindicated (not recommended) for those who have osteoporosis. Pilates mat classes specifically designed for those with osteoporosis are recommended instead.

WHY should I do Pilates?
Pilates helps you:
